When you come across an artist that is so raw and untouched, it’s insanely refreshing. This yet-to-be-signed-to-a-label Hip Hop artist is all the buzz among our east coast Insighters.
Kid Cudi, born and raised in Cleveland – made his way to Brooklyn three years ago to pursue his dream of becoming a respected hip hop artist. He describes his sound as a fusion of alternative rock, hip hop and occasionally R & B, that forms feel good and emotionally conscious records. His content is filled with witty explanations about himself and his life’s journeys, with a twist of storytelling scenarios. His first single “Day N Nite” is nothing more than a conscious awareness record about his faults and how he deals with them. This speaks to a realness that Millennials feel is missing from music today. His lyrics convey the mistakes he’s made and how he’s dealt with them. He’s revealing a ‘conscious’ approach to laying down lyrics that are true to him and all those who listen.
In reading his bio, he was quoted saying “I’m just a dreamer, turned true to life leaner…Born to do good so others can be believers…”. I truly believe Millennials are buzzing about him not only because he’s a new, talented artist but they are inspired by his humbleness and authenticity. He’s an artist to most definitely watch out for!
