Avi Rothman Tomorrow on Comedy Central:
(Andy) Two episodes of Avi Rothman’s paean to a contemporary Messiah, MODERN DAY JESUS, are going to air tomorrow on Comedy Central (Tuesday, 4/21)…at 2:30 AM. That’s right, in the middle of the night, where the fundamentalists can’t, and the stoners can, see it, some of the best neo-hipster religious silly art produced made will be boldly on display for literally TENS of viewers! Be one of them!
Here are the details from Oren Brimer:
The world premiere of our fourth episode of Modern Day Jesus will be airing on Comedy Central as a part of their not-hit show, AtomTV. Yes, you heard me right folks, at the time we all know as the “demi-hour of convenience”, 2:30am, there will be broadcast! They will also be airing the very first episode, “I died for you.” So set your TiVO’s, VCR’s (Grandma), and pacemakers (Avi) to record our 5 minutes of glory: Comedy Central, 4/21, 2:30am <http://www.atom.com/atomtv/
Patton Oswalt Article in this month’s MAXIM Issue
Nice Package! Big Fan Star Patton Oswalt on how to home your Hollywood image.
Back in the early 90’s when I had the semblance of a jawline and semidefined abs, I had lunch with my agency, Strategic Alternative Zeitgeist Overlords, Ltd. They had a pretty seductive game plan for me: the snide but lovable Slacker Anti-Hero Package. I didn’t have the pecs, height, or quad strength for the Terse Action Loner Regimen. And my eyes lacked the dewy sincerity for the Bashful Romantic Hearthrob Plan. But the Slacker Anti-Hero Package species fit me to a T. They’d fill four slots already- Stephen Dorff, Christian Slater, Ethan Hawke, and Janeane Garofalo. I was about to sign my contract, and in the middle of having a flannel shirt custom-fit(and matched to a vintage Stooges tee), when my manager called: Owen Wilson sharked my spot that morning.
The rest of the ‘90s and early aughts were very difficult. I scraped by doing stand-up, sitcoms, and cartoon animal voices. I swore I’d never get my hopes crushed by the corporate machine again. I brooded, drank, read voraciously, and ate carb-heavy diet. My wardrobe of ironic t-shirts and jeans had to be changed to cords, a collared shirt, and a tweed sport coat to hide my bulk. Without even knowing it, I honed myself perfectly into a Indie Movie Schlub. Then I got another call from my manager. Turns out Seth Rogen’s lost too much weight, and a slot is open in the Indie Movie Schlub roster! My future looks bright.

Internet Ad Spending Increase Stands Alone in 2009 Forecast
http://www.mediapost.com/publications/?fa=Articles.showArticle&art_aid=104384#comments
“The internet is the only medium expected to actually attract higher ad expenditure in 2009, thanks to its accountability and innovation in ad formats, says the report.
Most of this growth will come from search advertising, concludes the study, as consumers considering a purchase are using search more as they seek out the very best deals. In the US, the report predicts search advertising to grow 9.0% in 2009, while classified grows just 1.8% and traditional display shrinks 1.8%. Internet video and rich media is forecast to grow 29.8%, internet radio 29.7% and podcasts11.9%, but these represent only 12% of US internet expenditure between them.
The study expects television ad expenditure to fall 5.5% in 2009, but this represents an increase in market share from 38.1% to 38.6%, followed by a record 39.3% share in 2010. Advertisers that cut budgets across the board will often cut television last, since they know it best and are convinced of its effectiveness, concludes the report.”
