Millennials have become obsessed with the Guitar Hero video game series and soon they will have another obsession to contend with in the same ‘Hero’ family – called ‘DJ Hero’. Our community game enthusiasts have been speaking about the development rumors of ‘DJ Hero’ (as well as ‘DJ Dance’) for a few months now. Now those rumors can be put to rest because the Fall 09 release has just become a reality.
We first heard the rumblings of ‘DJ Hero’ when a Generate Insighter reported back that he saw a banner for the game at SXSW this year. Apparently the DJ Hero kit emulates the decks we see DJ’s use at clubs and gives you the option to play the game by following cues on a turntable. Much like Guitar Hero, there is a competitive element to it as well, where you can scratch against other ‘DJ’s’!
Generate Insighters have been signing up to the site (www.djhero.com) to get the latest updates on the game, features and release date. The site contains the logos for the Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation, which suggests the game will be available on those platforms.
Why the ‘Hero’ game series resonates with Millennials:
- The game(s) tap into a desire for the user to fulfill their guitar playing fantasies and becoming a rock star.
- There’s no intimidation factor…anyone can pick up the game for the first time and function, but the better you get, the more challenging it becomes.
- The game centers around music.
- The game features incredible graphics of rock stars performing on stage
- The user can create their own rock stars and make them completely unique
- The soundtrack(s) make the game worth playing (most to all featured are the original versions of the song)
