Daily Buzz – Websites June 12, 2009
Posted by Generate Studios on June 17th 2009 in Generate Insight Daily BuzzTopic: “Viral Photo Blogs”
Viral photo blogs comprised of amateur snapshots of average people in random situation are all the rage right now. The best part of these photo-blogs are the captions that accompany the picture. Typically the snarky captions are created by the people behind the website – but the most recent site of this kind to launch ‘happiest people ever’ request captions from the user – making the engagement more powerful (and more universally cruel L).
Check out the latest photo-blogs to gain buzz:
http://happiestpeopleever.tumblr.com - Happiest People Ever is a tumblr blog dedicated to preserving photographs of happy people who just happen to forget to smile when their photos were taken.
“We all have these photos in our collection – but we don’t have random people commenting on our seriousness. The comments are truly the best part because everyone weighs in! Hilarious!” – Taryn, 18
www.yourbabyisanasshole.com/ – A blog comprised of compiled shots of babies and toddlers participating in adult-like forms of insolent behavior, alongside explanations of what exactly makes them so unbearable.
“When I first heard about this site I was totally insulted – but then after looking at the pictures and statements that went with them – I couldn’t not turn it off! It should be called myparentsareassholes.com – because it’s them who put their kids in this situation.” – MaryAnne, 25
www.hotchickswithdouchebags.com – the name says it all… pictures of beautiful women with guys who don’t deserve them!
“This site is the best! It’s sad to see these hot chicks with such d@ck-heads but the way these guys are featured and made fun of is why I always keep on coming back to check it out. You won’t be able to help yourself” – Bill, 20
www.latfh.com – a blog with photos featuring hipster culture and captions making fun of their coolness!
“I love making fun of people who think they are cooler than cool! This blog does that so well!’ – Tara, 17
http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.com/ - a scientific approach to highlight and explain stuff white people like
“This site pokes fun at the simpletons white people are. I’m white – so I can say that! I check it every day although they need to update more often.” – Carol, 23
http://www.cutethingsfallingasleep.org/ - this blog is too cute for words…literally! It’s comprised of videos shooting cute things getting some shut-eye!
“I am all about furry or small things doing cute things. This blog makes my heart warm. How do people capture these things falling asleep is beyond me. But I love it.” – Katie, 13
http://randombuttcrack.tumblr.com/ - this blog is not for the faint of heart… photos of random butt cleavage and hysterical comments to go with!
“If you want to get grossed out than log on to this randombuttcrack.com! It is so nasty but you can’t turn away. My brother and his friends are its biggest fans. It’s definitely a guys site – but yeah, pretty gross but FUNNY!” – Tabitha, 17
http://blackpeopleloveus.com/ - a very, white suburban couple’s photo documentation of them socializing and friending black people. The posts from the black people that love them are INSANELY funny!
“These two white folk are REALLY white and I don’t know any brother or sister of mine that would invite them in to their circle. I think it’s all made up really but the captions from the black folk is HILARIOUS!” – Mekai, 19
www.Failblog.com – whereas this photo-blog has been around for a while, it never gets old thanks to all the socially inappropriate, random silliness and outlandish photos uploaded daily!
“Failblog.com never ceases to disappoint! They update a few times a day and the pictures are SO funny! Seeing people in funny or dangerous situations get people’s attention!” – Kevin, 22
www.akwardfamilyphotos.com – a blog that we covered in last month’s buzz but still a crowd favorite. This photo blog captures embarrassing family photos with the most insulting, side-splitting captions for each.
“Every family has these pictures of complete embarrassment –most of us burn them, no post them to a popular website. Well that’s what akwardfamilyphotos.com is all about… families thinking they have the perfect shot, coming to find out it’s one big hot mess.” – Paula, 18
